Toddlers are active learners and your child will graduate to the Toddler Room at some point soon after they become steady on their feet! Exploring art materials and experiencing music, dance, and drama enrich the classroom. Our experienced staff reinforces important developmental objectives through these creative, fun experiences. Development of the linguistic skills is an important part of our toddler programme. Introducing toddlers to books and language nourishes early literacy development.

When children reach the toddler room, they are offered a slightly more structured environment where they will have the opportunity to experiment with plenty of age appropriate activities. There are different areas for the children to use their imagination and communicate i.e. Home corner, dressing up area, shop, construction area, cosy corner and many more. We have a separate nappy changing area and toilets near by to encourage toilet training. We have sleep beds where the children can have a nap if feeling tired. There is a daily record book kept for parents to view in the evening time.

Naomi’s Creche embraces Play as the most powerful learning tool for children. To a child what they are doing has a deep hidden meaning to it, to a child, play is serious business; they need time for this and it is vital that this time is given to them.
Play is the most important thing a young child can do. Play is not only the essence of a happy childhood, it is the way children learn - about their bodies, their environment, ideas, events and the people and objects around them.
In our Toddler Room we ensure that we cover the 5 key elements of Play the following are just some of the things children learn while they're playing:

  • Physical – Small and Large Muscle Movement, Hand - Eye Co-ordination and Balance
  • Intellectual – problem solving through puzzles
  • Linguistic – communication skills
  • Emotional – through positive play experiences
  • Social – contact with peers, younger, older children and adults

We offer a separate nappy changing area and toilets nearby to encourage toilet training in this age group. We have a sleep area for children who require an afternoon nap; all Full Time Toddlers get a hot meal of the day and snacks. Garden Play is also extremely important all year round.

We try to encourage your child to have a nap/rest each day. All children sleep on individual floor mats with sheets and a member of staff is in the room to monitor the children at all times.

All meals are provided for your child. Please refer to Menu Board each week to see what your child will be eating. If you do not wish your child to eat something on our menu, please let us know. We do encourage children to try different foods – tastes and textures. Your child should be fully weaned at this stage.

At about 2 years of age (age varies from child to child), potty training will be encouraged. This process takes time and patience. The child must be both physically and cognitively ready. The Creche and parents must work together to make it an enjoyable experience for the child. Each child is different and will require different ways of training, hence when your child is ready, a member of staff will discuss with you, how best to make the transition from nappies to pants. Child sized toilets are just off the Toddler Room are provided.
